We are looking forward to seeing you all for the Disc Day 2010. This will be held at Alexander Park (just off of Hwy 124). If you turn onto Sugarloaf Hwy, then turn down Old Snellville Hwy (The first light that you come to on left). If you drive down about a block you will see the park entrance on the left. You will want to drive all the way to the back gravel driveway. To your right you will see a path. If you keep following it, you will come to the start of the course.
We will be playing the front 9 holes. If you would like to stay and finish the course, that is fine, but up to you. In trying to keep the kids safe, it will be important to make sure you stay with your kids.
We will start to send groups out to start playing at 3pm. If you have registered please show up before 3pm so you can get your disc. If other people in your family were registered for discs, please bring the money for your discs to the tournament. Remember the cost $10 per disc for non scout participants. NOTE: Discs for non scouts (Parents, Siblings…), will not be provided without payment. This will be due at the sign in. Registered scouts will receive their discs for free. If you did not sign up for a disc, you may still come, but you will need to purchase a disc some a local disc retailer. Some recommendations are “Play It Again Sports”, and “Dicks”
Here are several resources for disc golf. BEFORE the Disc Day 2010, please make sure you take the time to read the rules and review them with your child.
You can be as brief or in depth as you like, but at a minimum, cover the written bit just below.

Most important rules are as follows…
1. Most Important!!! Never throw the disc unless it is your turn. The discs can hurt someone if they hit someone and they fly really really far. More, never throw the disc directly at someone.
2. Almost as important!!! Have Fun!!!
3. The object of the game is to throw the disc into the basket in the fewest number of throws.
4. A couple of adults should be present for each group to keep order, and to keep score.
5. A hole is considered finished for a player when his disc comes to rest in the basket. Landing the disc on top does not count. Merely hitting the ring on top of the basket does not count either, although it makes a great noise.
6. If the player is within one step of the basket, it is acceptable to tap the chains with your disc indicating the disc is sunk. Here again, it is also fun because it makes a nice, very refreshing chink noise.
7. The order of throwing (from the tee pad) is the lowest number of throws from the previous hole.
8. The order of throwing on the fairway and putting is based on distance from the basket. The farthest disc always throws first.
9. The kids should wait behind the person throwing or there is a good chance of getting hit. While funny to those who waited behind the person throwing, this will not be funny to the person who just got hit. Just sayin’.
10. Be courteous to those around you when you are not throwing. Better said, try not to be a distraction to those who are throwing.
11. If a group behind you is playing faster, be polite and let them play through.

The 10 Commandments of Disc Golf. – 2 Players in the wilderness are given the 10 commandments of disc golf. It is an bizarre take on Moses and the 10 commandments. It takes a while to get to the point, but goofy none the less. There is one word at about 3:39 but the video as a whole is ok.
